Where are we now?
The Community Legacy Trust is delivering and implementing its first pilot project. This project is in Shirebrook, Derbyshire where it will establish a Community Land Trust as a local delivery vehicle.
The Shirebrook scheme will deliver 80 new sustainable homes by 2012. Key benefits of this scheme will include:
- Provide individuals and families opportunities to part own, rent to buy or rent aspirational homes on a flexible basis within the development
- Deliver a high standard of living accommodation
- Have a range of homes of various sizes and type
- All homes will be designed to meet high environmental standards with an element of renewable energy
- Code level 4 (minimum) of the Government’s Code for Sustainable Homes
Delivery of the Development
The scheme has been subject to HM Governments Green Book Economic Appraisal.
A planning application for the scheme is in process and work should start on site in late 2010. The first home should be available in 2011.
Following completion, the new houses will be managed by the local Community Land Trust which will include people who live there.
